Australian real estate leaders expect higher values and more offshore investors

chinese_investorsInvestors, analysts and the leaders of Australia’s largest listed real estate trusts all expect further investment in the listed property sector from overseas as the chase for yield enters a second stage and capitalisation rates show further tightening.

Speakingat Macquarie Group’s annual equities conference in Sydney, where about 100 offshore investors were in attendance, Lendlease’s newly appointed chief financial officer Tarun Gupta said major offshore institutional investors still had a strong desire to invest in Australian real estate.

He said Lendlease had more than 70 capital partners with 19 of them each controlling more than $50 billion in funds under management.

“We are in regular dialogue with these partners and they continue to show strong interest.”
